The Georgia Insurers Insolvency Pool (GIIP) was created by the Georgia Legislature to protect policyholders and claimants when a member property and casualty insurance company becomes insolvent.
GIIP was established to provide a mechanism for the payment of covered property and casualty claims, minimize financial loss to policyholders and claimants, and promote public confidence in Georgia's insurance marketplace.
GIIP works to ensure that covered claims continue to be paid when an insurer is unable to meet its obligations. In addition, GIIP helps facilitate the orderly resolution of insurer insolvencies and distributes the cost of protection among admitted member companies licensed to write property and casualty insurance in Georgia, as provided by state law.
Additional Information
The Association's protections are governed by the Georgia Insurers Insolvency Pool Act and the terms of the insurance policy in effect at the time of insolvency. Coverage and benefit limits vary based on the type of policy and applicable state law.
We strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information. However, if any information on this website differs from the Georgia Insurers Insolvency Pool Act or other applicable laws and regulations, the law will control. Because insurance policies and legal requirements can vary, the Association cannot determine coverage for specific policies unless it has been activated to assist policyholders of an insolvent member insurer.
We encourage you to explore our Frequently Asked Questions and Contact Us pages to learn more about the Association and the protections available to Georgia policyholders.
